Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort and Club
Now, our first time ever staying in a Waldorf Astoria was in Edinburgh, Scotland and it still remains the most extraordinary experience we have ever had within a hotel. Waldorf Astoria is basically the gems of the luxury hotels. We have been to three now and they’re all such incredibly special properties.
The Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach is located in Dana Point, California and it is the most gorgeous design. I felt like we were in Italy the entire time. The main resort building is laid out like a U, facing the Pacific Ocean, so a good majority of the rooms can actually see the Ocean from their windows.
For our stay we had two Premium Pool View Rooms, and beyond the pool we could watch the sun settling down for it’s late night swim in the Pacific. We had adjoining rooms, one king sized bed and two queens in the children’s room. The rooms were so spacious, the beds were probably the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in, and the bath products at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach were the same exact kind that Edinburgh had and it made me so incredibly happy to see them again.
We loved that each room at the resort comes with either a patio or balcony, which makes it perfect for enjoying the view at any time during the day. We also were fortunate enough to have the main lawn area host two different weddings during our stay, so we were able to pretend we were wedding guests ourselves and watch the ceremonies.
The resort has two pools for guests to enjoy. The Monarch Pool is open to all ages and has the perfect setup for relaxing at the pool. We spent all of our time at the Family Pool, which is incredible for children at different swimming levels and the cabanas are so cute and can be rented for the day.
Activities around the Resort
The property is so pretty, it’s worth walking around to find all of the hidden corners. The resort has plenty of walking trails that cover the grounds, which is perfect for a self-guided nature walk.
Right out on the main lawn, Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach has art and crafts activities and games set up on the lawn for children from 10am to 5pm. My children really loved this special feature.
Nearby in Dana Point Harbor, you can go whale watching and since this area in California has more blue whales and dolphins than anywhere else in the world, it is not to be missed!
You can rent electric bikes at the resort and enjoy those resort trails and even head out on to a bigger adventure around Dana Point.
Of course a stay in Dana Point means you’re at one of the best beaches in Southern California and the Waldorf has an adorable tram that will bring you right down to the water where you can find yourself enjoying a day at Salt Creek Beach.
Our time at Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach was simply the best. I love how grand everything feels, truly every where you look is so beautifully designed! I could barely take it all in! Our time was a special gift to us from the resort, but all thoughts are my own and honest. Thank you for giving us these incredible memories, Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach, we are forever grateful.
